Deputy Labor Leader Tanya Plibersek MP and Ged Kearney MP today announced that a Labor government will invest more than $200,000 for local school projects in Cooper.

The projects to be funded by an elected Labor government are:

• Secure bike racks at Northcote High School.
• A nurture room at Reservoir East Primary School.
• A Library STEAM makerspace at Thornbury High School.
• A library refurbishment at Reservoir Primary School.
• Restoring the heritage hall at Fairfield Primary School.
• A kitchen upgrade at Preston South Primary School.

Ged Kearney MP said funding for schools in Cooper is a key priority for her. “Education is the number one issue raised with me. I meet regularly with principals and teachers from schools all over Cooper and make sure I am advocating for their needs.”

“From bike racks at Northcote High to a STEAM space at Thornbury High and a nurture room at Reservoir East, these projects will make a real difference for kids at our local schools.”

Deputy Labor Leader, Tanya Plibersek, was in Cooper today to announce the local schools projects with Ged Kearney MP. “Ged is a fierce advocate for schools in Cooper.” 

Ms Plibersek said today’s announcement is on top of the extra $18 million that schools in Cooper will receive in the first three years of a Labor Government.

“This boost in funding can be used to deliver additional supports like speech pathologists, social workers and family liaison officers as well as smaller class sizes, more teachers and more one-to-one attention”, Ms Plibersek said.

Only a vote for Ged Kearney and Labor will ensure better schools and more investment in our most valuable resource: our children.
